The changing world

Photo taken from wwwchangetheworld.org

The world always change. It never stays static. We have learnt from the history of human civilisation that human had change from living in the cave or on tree to in the houses built from wood or stone and nowadays human lives in skyscrapers.

The age we are living right now is electronic age. We can see the world is changing faster at this age. Within 22 years living in this world, I saw many new technology introduced. When I was 4, I used to watch Pink Panther using video cassette. Then about 11 or earlier than that, video cassette became obsolete and replaced by CD's and then DVD's. At 18, MP3 player and Digicam became hot stuff. The latest, IPod leads MP3 player market.

With advancement in communication and transportation system, the world has become 'smaller'. We can travel around the world easier and you don't feel home sick so much because you can call your home whenever you want.

Despite of many positive changes happen in our life, there are many negative changes happen in our life as well. Animal, plant, culture and language extinction threat is quite serious in certain places. Global warming become more significant due to the ice in poles melted. Rising rate of crime, suicide, child abortion, abuse and many more. The teenage does not respect the elderly and free mixing.Opression by the people in power, war in the middle east, human right abuse and media bias. Cost of living rises due to many factor especially due to the oil price rises.

These problems is not good for health! It makes our life feel miserable. But we can't just complain. We must change. To see the world changes to a better world, we must change ourselves in the first place. I believe the best way to change is by following the Islamic principle because Islam is not just a belief system, it is a way of life. It is suitable in anywhere any anytime . So, let us change ourselves!!

The power of labeling people

Terrorist, Liberal, Conservative, Socialist and Islamist are common words we can find in newspapers headlines.

Labeling people is normal in our life especially by the Media. I think people tend to label others because we love to judge other people. Sometimes it is used because it is easy to describe or classify something/someone.

When someone says a person is Liberal, automatically will think that person favours change in political and social matters and dont like to be restricted. While terrorist, is a person who cause trouble, disaster and chaos to the public.

Labeling people influence others perception. It makes a bad product looks good and good looks bad. If you use wrong label, ones feeling might hurt.

Why somone use wrong label? The reason can be with intention or without intention. Someone might use it in improper way because he does not understand the real meaning of the label used.

That is what I think about labeling and the power of labeling.

Achtung, Eingang & Ausgang

Those are few words I learnt in Germany last week. I joined a trip to Germany organised by my friend in Nottingham, Rozaen in a group of three which includes me, Roz and Fikri.

We went to Neumberg, Meunchen and Rosenheim. These three places are in Bayern. We also managed to visit Sazlburg in Austria.

Most of our time were spent in the train. The first day and last day we spent almost the whole day to travel from Frankfurt Hahn to Numberg (vice versa). Everyday, we took a train to travel from a city to another. The fare is quite expensive for fast train such as ICE and CE. But it is quite resonable for slower train and we can share a ticket for a group of 5. So the cost can be cut into a fifth is you have a group of 5.

Sleeping at Stanstead airport. I got some motivation to sleep just like that after looking bunches of people sleeping at the airport like this. He he. However I coulnd't sleep very well because it was very noisy and people keep passing by.

Early in the morning, my bag couse some trouble. Alhamdulillah, Fikri managed to fix it.

Just arrived, exicited!
Again, excited taking pictures!!

In Neumberg, the guy in light coloured jacket is Yus, our guide ( he is our host in Neumburg, Studying EE).

On the way to Munich, in Die Bahn.

Interesting. You can hire a bike in Munich. To Seif, your idea to open a business hiring a bike in London is not impossible, as long as you put all safety precaution.

With our guide, G in Sazlburg. Salzburg is a tourist city. According to bro Saif, Sazlburg is well known as one of the biggest ski area in Europe. Salz meand Salt and burg means fort/city (kota).

The scenery form a fort on a Mountain at Salzburg. Beautiful isn't it?
On the way going back to Neumberg. Waiting for the train.
Jaen saying thnks and good bye to Nobi. Our last meal in Nuemberg. Also our official lunch in Nuemberg.

I would like to express my gratidtude to the hosts in Neumberg and Rosenheim for your great hospitality to a stranger (me and Fikri, apart from Roz. He is their college mate) like me. Danke!! May Allah rewards you guys.

Overall, Im very happy and satisfied visiting Germany. Alhamdulillah.

Solat Sunat sblm bermusafir

Assalammualaikum. May this entry find you in the best of health and iman, insha'Allah.

Kalau tujuan maksiat mmg tak leh solat jamak la...

Rasanya sebelum kita bertolak, eloklah kita kerjakan solat sunat sebelum bermusafir. Caranya mudah sahaja. Dirikan solat sunat dua rakaat dan niatnya "sahaja aku solat sunat musafir 2 rakaat kerana Allah". Selepas solat tu berdolah... Macam biasa....

Exeter... part II

Al-kisah... Macam salah ajer.Tengok peta pun macam tak betul. Tapi sebab tak tahu jalan, maka ikut sahajalah. Setelah 7 minit berjalan. Kami pun bertanya kepada a rondom guy on the street. He told us, the train station is the other way round. Maka kitorang kena patah balik. Or maybe because I'm lucky?? Dalam perjalanan, jam tangan menunjukkan pukul 8.33. Terdetik dlm hatiku,'terlepas dah ni, tapi nak buat camner lari pun tak sempat'. Joss pula berkata ' Azlan, maybe you should run. Sorry about that. Good luck, mate.'

Setibanya di stesen, aku melihat skrin jadual train berlepas. Tiada satu pun yang menuju ke London. Hatiku sudah yakin bahawa aku terlepas train. Tanya pula officer kat situ, dia kata esok pagi baru ada train. Ahhh... Jadual train kat papan di tepi stesen pun kata 8.30 mlm last train. Aku pasrah.

BUSA Indoor 2006 at Exeter University

Dear friends...
Apology for not updating my blog. Well as you all know, 2nd year is a though time. So I am not able to update as frequent as i used to do in 1st year.

I was planning to write about interesting experience last Saturday and Sunday, but due to exhaustion and busy finishin assignment, Im only able to write about it today. All right mate, lets get straight to the point.

Saturday 4 March- I went to Exeter to join an archery competition at the national level BUSA Inddors at Exeter University (anyone can enter the competition)as a member of University of London Archery Club.

11.05 a.m., alhamdulillah (all praise to Allah), I was lucky enough to get on the same train as my team mate to Exeter eventhough I was late. About two hours later we arrived at Exeter St. Davis Station. While waiting for Joss and Wei check-in their hotel at the train station, I took this picture.

And this is before we took a taxi to the event venue.

Upon arriving at Exeter Uni Sports Hall, we went to the registration booth to register and then went to a room to wait for our turn to shoot. While waiting, I went out to perform Zuhr and Asr prayer, combined (combining prayer time is allowed for travellers and in a few circumstances).

About 3.40- after very long delay, at last it is my turn to shoot. My target no was 7B. I started quite well with 2 arrows hit 10 and the other one 9. Towards the end, I was quite tired and a bit stress, so my performance dropped a bit. After about 2 and half hours shooting and waiting, I managed to finish shooting 60 arrows. Alhamdulillah I got 505 points out of 600. It was a record for me.

Change Mode: Malay.

Lebih kurang kul 7, aku pun bersiap2 nak balik. Tapi si Wei suruh tunggu dulu sebab dia kata dia nak jalan sama2 balik ke train station. So aku pun tunggu. Hassan cakap 8.30. Memandangkan masa dah pukul 7.50, aku pun cakap kat Wei dan Joss kena cepat. So diorang suruh call teksi. Nak jadi cite, aku call company teksi kata tak der teksi masa tu. Call lagi satu company pun tak de. Last sekali call company A1, dia kata quarter to nine baru ada teksi. Alamak kalau 8.45 train dah lepas. Camner nak buat....

To be continued...

free

Alhamdulillah. Sekarang ni agak free. Baru sahaja habis mid-sessional test semalam. Harap-harap ok la.

Sempena free ni, mari kita menghayati maksud surah al-Asr.

Demi masa.

English

I realised that my english communication skill has dropped. Lately I couldn't speak as fluent as I was in the end of 1st yr (eventhough my english is not superb). I wonder why is it? Maybe because I speak Malay too much and don't think in english anymore. He he. Something has to be done. Ok, let's improve ourself!

Mari membaca hadith

Abu Malik Al-Asha'ri R.A quoted the prophet p.b.u.h as saying: " There are in Paradise mansions, the exterior of which can be seen from its exterior, designed by Allah s.w.t for those who provide food (to needy, are polite in talk, and observe the Tahajjud prayer when people are asleep"

Reported by Imam Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, At-Tirmidi and At-tabrani. Source: Description of Paradise from the Quran and Authentic Sunnah, Waheed Abdussalam Bali, Al-Firdaus Ltd, London.

Amacam? Mari kita berlumba-lumba mengejar syurga Allah.

Mahu melepak sahaja. Maka rugilah pada masa itu. Segala tanggungjawab terabai. Akhirnya bertimbun-timbun beban yang kena pikul.

Muhammad Yusuf berkata, " teruskan perjuanganmu walaupun terasa malas.
